Last night I got to attend the SF SketchFest tribute to Paul Reubens. I've always been moderately entertained by his movies and tv show, but now I am a bit more of a fan, I suppose. The show was set as a conversation between Rollingstone-person Ben Fong-Torres and Paul Reubens, not as Pee-Wee. Lots of people were dressed up as Pee-Wee, however, and there were quite a few red bow ties to be seen.
Mr.Reubens himself was very polite, eloquent, and playful- and quite charming. I feel like I should go into his recent back-catalogue- a lot of the clips shown were pretty hilarious. Anyway, I'm pretty glad I got to go and hear him/see him/meet him. And I'm glad he is still performing after all the legal harassment he's had recently.
